... of %^$%^$^%$^ Extra Taxes from IRB...

It happened again - damn it!

About 2 years ago, IRB sent me a cheque for RM700++ tax refund I don't even know for which year. Then a few months later, they sent me a letter asking me to back pay extra tax of RM460++ for year 2004.

About 1 1/2 months ago, they sent me a tax refund cheque of RM800++ for year 2008. And guess what? Today I received IRB's love letters (note the "S") asking me to back pay extra taxes for the year 2005 and 2006!!!! What the f***?????? And the combined figure amounts to RM1,625++ - SHUCKS!!!

I was full of praise of IRB just a month plus ago and now this... sigh, can't they calculate everything at one go???

Now, gotta get something off my renovation list just to pay these taxes - damn...

... of Cancer (?) part deux...

Not sure if this is pure coincidence - this is the second time this has happened. The first in 2006 not long after i started writing this short-lived blog - my Dad was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. Since then, I've stopped updating my blog (till bout 1/2 a month ago) and Dad's cancer has recovered after a 30++ rounds of radiotherapy.

Well, look what happened - I've started started blogging again bout 1/2 month ago cos I feel that I'm moving into a new phase in my life getting my own property and my career in my current company is looking good. So, I think it's good to document them down.

It really felt like dejavu when mom called me about 2 weeks back about Dad's condition. He's been coughing out small solid clotted blood. To cut long story short - did x-ray, then MRI and results came out today. Mom called and told me the nurses said got "masalah" and they called UH to arrange an appointment to see my Dad on the coming 15th July.

I don't have a good feeling about this - most likely i think the cancer is back and this time it has spreaded to the lungs. I hope I'm wrong....

... of Home Loan & Balance of Downpayment...

Took 1/2 day leave in the afternoon of 30th June to get my SPA signed and wrote the biggest cheque in my life to pay off the balance 7% of the downpayment - RM20,300!!! (Checked my current account balance yesterday and it's already been deducted - *sob*sob*).

Got a real good deal of a bank loan yesterday (thanks to Celia at the law firm who introduced me to her loan officer in SCB). I'm likely getting a fixed rate of BLR minus 2.30% or 2.35%. This is way better than what RHB quoted me at BLR minus 2.15%. Well, all documents were submitted on 30th June itself and hopefully I'll get the good news by early next week.

By the way, signed up for a credit card as well which comes with the home loan. I don't actually need an additional credit card but since it's a platinum card, well what the heck - with 3 years' annual fees waived, why not? I can transfer the credit balance from MBF and cancel that one.

One last thing - the 42" TV arrived!!! It's damn big! Well, the picture quality is not exactly perfect but it's ok - no complaint.... yet!

Note to self : need to arrange to check the defect in the condo unit and get KatShing to tag along to view the unit for renovation - FAST!

... of Renovation quotations, Mahjong & TV shopping...

Bad day yesterday...
  • Planned on buying a fridge first since it's Harvey Norman's last day of sales. Alas, didn't get one. Too early la... dunno where to put also as they will only hold till end of July. The new place will not even start renovation till at least late September.
  • Went and see Steven's cousin for a prelim renovation quotation - freaked me out! The bedroom + kitchen itself will easily cost me RM20k - RM25k... shit! How la???? Money o money, where art thou dear money???
  • .... and I lost almost RM100 at the mahjong table!!! And guess what? Mostly to Steven... hmmm, gonna let him sleep at the couch for a week :P

On a brighter note - we bought a TV!!!! JVC 42" LCD at only RM2,888. Gonna be delivered tomorrow... yeah! New TV tomorrow!

... of New Beginning, Big Commitment...

Whew, it's been a while since I last updated this thing. Time to clean the dust and spiderwebs - haha!

Well, since I'm starting a new phase in my life i might as well start back the good old blog (not that i updated much previously anyway).

Well, I just did the scariest thing today. Finally getting my own pad. Paid the deposit that costs me RM8700!!!! That's the largest amount that I've paid for anything in one shot. And that's still not 10% of the downpayment yet. Still need to cough up the balance.

The first step's taken... here we go!
